Kate Matthews, proudly representing Raymond Terrace Bowling Club, first picked up a bowl in 2011 through primary school sport—where she loved bragging about her spider competition wins. Seeing her passion, her mum arranged coaching at their local club, and Kate has never looked back. Now rolling with Greenmaster Premiers size threes, she loves the wider line they take and has stuck with them ever since. Inspired by legends like Karen Murphy, Aron Sherriff, Natasha Van Eldik, Ellen Fife, and Dawn Hayman, Kate’s proudest achievement so far has been winning the 2023 Australian Women’s Triples Title. For her, bowls has also been about travel, community, and even love—she met her fiancé through the sport. Off the green, Kate is a huge sports fan, always up for playing, watching, or winding down with a good book.
